Top 5 Jewels of 2016

We’re kicking off 2017 by recapping our top five jewels of 2016, as decided by our Instagram fans! Surprise – they’re all rings! From wear everyday classics to once-in-a-lifetime rare treasures, these are jewels that deserve a second look.

First, with over 3000(!) likes: our popular Heirloom by Doyle & Doyle wedding bands, the Fleur design on top and Scrolling on the bottom. We posted these in September as inspiration to all our fall brides and grooms. Designed by Elizabeth Doyle, these go-with-everything bands are inspired by vintage rings that are getting increasingly harder to find. They’re available in 18k yellow and white gold, made to order just for you, and can also be fun stack rings as well as wedding bands.

Second with 2400 likes: our rare, museum-collection-worthy, Georgian enameled compartment band. Gold flourishes on the color enamel side flip via tiny hinges to reveal gold letters spelling “souvenir” on the black side. We premiered this 1830s beauty during our August Instagram jewelry party, which also included diamond tiaras and a vintage pendant giveaway! We always have something extra special up our sleeve for our jewel parties, so stay tuned for the next one.

Third with 2300 likes: this vintage fluted emerald cocktail ring, framed by diamonds. Such a beautiful green glow! We debuted this 1920s beauty for the first ever Gem Gossip meet up that we hosted in October. This special ring is part of a collection of extraordinary antique and vintage jewels that Elizabeth found specially for the meetup and it was one of Danielle’s favorites (girl knows how to pick ’em!). We hold lots of fun jewelry events in our New York City boutique, including cocktail parties, new collection launches, exhibitions, and our annual holiday party. Fourth with just shy of 2000 likes is this Edwardian diamond solitaire engagement ring, set in an engraved filigree mounting. We posted this beauty in June and it did not last long! For engagement rings, 2016 at Doyle & Doyle was all about the classic diamond solitaire. Our couples selected sleek vintage versions, ornate antique versions, both platinum and yellow gold, set with round, emerald cut, and even pear shaped diamonds. Beautiful and timeless, there’s a diamond solitaire for everyone!

And fifth with almost 1900 likes: our vintage diamond solitaire engagement ring, set in rich gold. Since 2016 was our Year of the Solitaire, it’s no surprise that this bold sparkler rounds out the top five. Although substantial at 2.39ct and with fire that could put a disco ball to shame, this Old European cut engagement ring is so pretty on the hand. Posted in June, it’s gained many fans, but luckily still available and waiting for the right couple to discover it. Maybe you and your sweetie?

Hats off to 2016 and all it’s beautiful jewels, can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for us!
