While all gold or all silver pieces are relatively simple to clean – the confusion often comes when we try to clean mixed medium pieces.
Before even thinking about putting a brush or cloth to your piece – take these great (but often ignored) fact into consideration:
Evaluate the piece to determine the piece’s most delicate component, and how not to damage it.
For example, if there is a piece with pearls in it, decide how to clean the piece by thinking about not damaging the pearls first. (I’ll be posting some good pearl cleaning tips soon, no worries…)
Once, you figure that out, you can determine (perhaps from previous Doyle & Doyle cleaning tips?) whether to use a cloth, a cleaner, a gentle mixture of soap and water, or whether you should get the piece professionally cleaned.
